History
The Plano Area Chamber of Commerce was original organized as the Plano Commerce Association on July 16, 1975.  The object of the organization was to promote and perpetuate the business, civic, and agricultural interest of the Plano area and to develop a unified public spirit.
Nine local business owners made up the original Board of Directors, six of whom were listed on the Association’s Charter.

The first home of the Association was a room in the Harvester Motel.  The office later moved to the historic Train Depot in downtown Plano.

At the Annual Meeting held in January, 2004, the membership of the Plano Commerce Association voted to become the Plano Area Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber hired their first Executive Director in March of that year.

The Chamber office remained in the Train Depot until May of 2006, when it moved to its present location at 7050 Burroughs Avenue.
